Getting to Koh Samui: plan the connection, not just the flight
Samui’s airport code is USM. Compare the full journey, including baggage and airport changes, before committing to a route; a convenient-looking combination is not necessarily one protected booking.
Check availability
An example from London
One possible route is London Heathrow (LHR) to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi with THAI, followed by Bangkok Airways to Samui. This combines individual airline routes as a planning example, rather than confirming a through-ticket. Check current schedules and availability for your own travel dates.
Check the Bangkok airport codes
Suvarnabhumi is BKK and Don Mueang is DMK. Look at both arrival and departure airports before selecting a connection. If your itinerary changes airports or uses separate tickets, account for immigration, collecting bags, onward travel and a new check-in deadline.
Confirm what happens to your bags
Through-checking depends on the airlines, route and ticket you buy. Ask the airline to confirm the arrangement for that specific booking instead of assuming your luggage follows you automatically. Leave enough flexibility for delays on your first flight and the procedures before your next departure.
Tell us about your arrival
Arrange your journey into Chaweng and let us know if you will arrive late; advance notice is essential after midnight. Coming from Koh Phangan instead? Ask us beforehand about a paid pickup from Bangrak or Maenam piers, with availability and price confirmed separately.
An alternative via Surat Thani and ferry
Another option combines a flight to Surat Thani (URT) with a bus or van transfer and a ferry to Samui. Compare the whole journey, including changes, baggage conditions and transfer costs, rather than airfare alone. Check the exact departure and arrival piers, current timetables and weather-related changes with the operator; Lomprayah offers combined bus-and-boat journeys from URT.
