Fisherman’s Village
Fisherman’s Village is a waterfront area for strolling, dining and shopping. Make it an evening excursion from Blackjack.
What to expect
One of the island's two well-known evening hotspots, with a different focus from central Chaweng's club scene. Fisherman's Village is more about relaxed dining, browsing and an evening with family or a partner. Narrow streets, Chinese-influenced shophouses and waterfront restaurants define the neighbourhood. Clothing shops, massage salons, spas and beauty studios sit alongside the restaurants, making this a relaxed place to browse before dinner.
A little history
The old shophouses recall Bophut's trading and fishing past. Today, many of those façades conceal restaurants, small shops and cafés. A historic setting does not mean an unchanged fishing village still operates here.
Visitor tip
Walk through before the main evening crowds, and look up at the façades and balconies as well. Then there is time for clothing shops, snacks and a meal by the beach. If you prefer less bustle, you do not have to choose the main market evening.
Things to watch
Popular can mean crowded. Visitors mention throngs of people and typical tourist souvenirs; quiet is relative on market nights.
From our group
Honey Beauty is also on Walking Street—for nails or holiday braids, for example. This is our own recommendation from within our business group.
